This is Clayton. Isn't he cute? He's only 2 years old - just a few months older than Munchkin. However, his life has been vastly different than Munchkin. She has spent her life surrounded by the love of a family. Clayton has spent his life in a crib, alone.
Clayton was born in April 2010 in an Eastern European country. He was likely relinquished at birth or soon after by his birth parents. They probably thought that they couldn't be good parents to him because of his down syndrome. In many countries outside the USA there is little or no support for families who want to parent their child with special needs. If Clayton's forever family doesn't find him, he will spend his entire life in a government institution. Right now he's in an orphanage but soon (probably around his 4th birthday) he will be placed in a mental institution and that's where he'll spend the rest of his life.
Please pray for Clayton today and please share him on your blog, on Facebook or anywhere else. Encourage people to give towards Clayton's adoption fund and to pray that his forever family would find him. Most of all, please take a moment to ask God how He might want you to get involved in the care of orphans with down syndrome. Does He want you to give? To advocate? To adopt?
